We're passionate about getting it right. It's actually very easy to start building websites, but we care about doing it properly.
The Company
White October is web development agency based in Oxford but facing London. As well as a core of talented programmers, we occasionally call on a collection of hangers-on when the need arises.
We also work closely with Hutchhouse, a creative agency who do great on-screen designs. We've found that their exceptionally high quality design compliments our commitment to standards and helps us to offer our clients not only robust database applications, but great looking websites as well.
Company History
Background
Managing Director Dave Fletcher started out developing business systems in the Information Systems department of Research Machines Plc. This is noteworthy since when you're building invoicing systems for a company employing 1,500 people, it's vital that they work.
He has carried the discipline of this environment with him, and it is maintained within White October. The result has been high quality, bug free systems, uncharacteristic of most other small web development agencies.
Modest ambition
Dave has always been a bit of a perfectionist. In October 2003 he was getting frustrated with poor quality websites and set out on a mission to rid the World of them.
This was perhaps a bit ambitious, but he quickly gained a reputation for doing great work, and was asked to do more of it.
Offices and People
Soon it became clear that Dave wasn't going to effect much change on the World of Web on his own. In late 2005 the company found premises in Cave St, Oxford and started recruiting.
2006 saw some very exciting projects and the company grew in size and expertise, becoming the talented collection of well-rounded individuals it is today.

Please don't ask about the name
Look, we'll admit, we don't have a good reason for it.
No Russian influences, back-to-nature revelations or early winters : it's just a name.
(We quite like it though)
