1) sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin mysqlserver
[just phpmyadmin here ran into the mysql socket issue]
2) sudo ln -s /usr/share/phpmyadmin /var/www/.

mparis@XPSM1330-mparis { /var/www }$ ls -al
total 12
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root 4096 2009-01-30 11:38 .
drwxr-xr-x 16 root root 4096 2009-01-30 11:25 ..
-rw-r--r--  1 root root   45 2009-01-30 11:25 index.html

		<description>I&#039;ve just installed 5 fresh installs of Ubuntu using this command. Version 8.10 and JEOS 8.04.

On some systems you may have to install mysql-server, my home machine didn&#039;t need it which was odd.</description>
