The BBC have launched a new design for the News and Sport home pages.

They have finally centred the design which means I can’t use the BBC as an example of a left aligned design any more when clients say that all websites are centred. Which is a shame as I like left aligned sites…

What is really interesting is that they are now designing for a 1024 width rather than the old 800 width. Means that 1024 widths are now main stream. Which is great news for those that design websites, gives them more room to play with.

However they haven’t got the design 100% in all browsers, something I would get a nagging from Dave about! I have yet to look at the News home page with in Windows but with Firefox 2 on Linux the BBC news strap line has a 2 pixel extra border along the bottom. Its actually a background colour on the div element that contains the strapline graphic which is not needed as far as I can tell.

Happens to the best of us I suppose….
