Facebook application

FLIP

A Facebook application developed over a weekend as part of the JailBrake project. The application gives friends the confidence to begin the process of identifying and developing their skills to find employment by letting them tell each other what skills they think they are good at.

About the weekend

The Jailbrake weekend brought social innovators together with web development professionals who could help them turn their ideas into reality.  We teamed up with a Bruno and Vincenzo from Common Ground and Itamar Ferrer who brought their idea of FLIP, a skills matching service for young offenders.  The idea evolved over the weekend after it became clear from talking to young people how important Facebook was to most young people, regardless of background or circumstance.

Developing a Facebook application

Good developers are characterised by their appetite for learning new technology.  The White October team had never developed a Facebook application before, but the prospect of building one in under 14 hours didn't daunt us.  You can see from the video below the results of our, at times frantic, work that weekend.
