White October is the first web agency to implement the new DEFRA personal carbon calculator. The work is part of the RSA Carbon Limited project, which focuses on the challenges of implementing personal carbon spend initiatives.

The new Carbon Limited Cities website will support a series of events in cities accross the country later in the year. The first phase of the website will be launched in the Greater Manchester area in conjunction with MIMP.

The calculator uses a bespoke carbon spend transactional system that compiles real-time CO₂ data from the AMEE system built by d::gen.

White October are especially excited about this project, as it helps bring exciting new technology to market, and as an environmentally responsible company, we're pleased to be at the forefront of this important field.

Users log into the site and answer a series of questions related to their personal carbon spend. The compiled answers are checked with data against the AMEE system. Users can re-visit the calculator and update their previous answers, and as a result, track their carbon spend trends through the website. Users can compare their results with other people living in their city.
