We are hiring an Entry Level Frontend Engineer/Javascript Developer

The opportunity

We’re looking for a motivated individual at the start of their career or with some commercial experience who has an interest in Frontend Engineering / JavaScript development to join our team of talented developers working on innovative products within small, multi-disciplined project teams.

You will join a team whose recent Frontend Engineering projects include using D3 to visualise patient risk in Intensive Care Units, building an infrastructure data visualisation platform in Vue.js / Highcharts / Google Maps and a healthcare platform with a React frontend.

We will work with you to identify your training needs and give you opportunities both on and off client projects to drive your learning forwards.

Alongside development you will also have the opportunity to take an active role in all stages of product development, from initial idea generation, through prototyping and user validation, to product launch and iterative improvement. While the focus of this role is Frontend Engineering there will also be the potential to work on backend projects using Python web frameworks such as Django and Flask.

We work with a range of clients, from small startups to big brands on projects that span from early prototypes through to large software builds.

The role

Embedded in a project team you'll soon be helping deliver web solutions for our clients following lean, agile and continuous delivery principles. You will have the support of the wider development team along with a training and development programme so you can keep progressing your own skills and career.

Working in cross-disciplinary teams of talented product strategists, UI/UX designers, project managers and fellow developers you must have a strong desire to improve yourself and learn from others, and a willingness to participate in and contribute to our culture of learning and sharing.

This is a full-time role in our Oxford office.

Ideal skills and experience

  • Some HTML/CSS/JavaScript experience
  • Knowledge of frameworks such as React or Vue.js would be an extra bonus
  • Great communication skills - both written and verbal
  • A commitment to learning, developing and sharing knowledge

We can offer you experience in

  • Working as a developer in an exciting digital agency
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team using Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban)
  • Experience of development standards, best practices and workflow
  • Experience of project tools including JIRA, Harvest, Slack
  • Commercial Front End experience
  • Commercial Django or Flask experience
